I love my Best Friend

Hello, it has been a while since I have hung out in this space.  I was chatting to my best friend this morning and decided I needed to tell you about her.

 

My best friend has been around all my life, through all my ups and my downs and no matter how bad things got, she never left me.

 

We have had many fall outs or disagreements on various subjects, but we have remained friends throughout.  That is what a good friend is.  They don't leave you when the road gets rough.  They stick around to keep you company and to encourage you along the way.  When we hang out together just for fun, then we think about our young days and how carefree we were.  Sometimes we laugh about the silly things we did, so much so that the tears roll down our cheeks.

 

We talk about all the dangerous things we did like walking for kilometres along the road from our house in Walmer Estate to Camps Bay beach and back.  We could have taken a bus but we chose to walk.  Even when I was on maternity leave we walked pushing the baby in the pram to the beach and back. We loved our walks and every opportunity we get, as long as I can breath without gasping, we will walk.

 

There have been many times when I felt like telling my best friend to leave me alone because she was getting in my face so to speak, but when I look back, then I am glad I never did.  We all need a best friend. Sometimes the advice they give is not to our satisfaction, but it is nonetheless worth hearing, if of course we are willing to listen.  And when we heed the advice it is sometimes the best advice we could have ever got.

 

I am sure my best friend would have loved to have smacked me a couple of times for all the bad judgment calls I have made, and sometimes still continue to make, but it is all just part of the journey of discovering who we are.  Anyway had my best friend succeeded in giving me a few smacks then she probably would have been so gone.

 

I will never trade my best friend in for a new one, we are together until the day we part.  I would miss my best friend if she was not around.  She shares my dreams and my hopes for a bright future. Just wish she was rich enough to help me get some of my dreams in motion.

 

My best friend and I talk every day for hours when I am not talking to anyone else.  The only thing I would so love from my best friend is a big hug but unfortunately under the circumstances it is just not possible.

 

I really do love my best friend even though it has taken me a lifetime to realise this. Now that I know who she is and what she wants from me, I make sure to say to her every morning when I look in the mirror "Good morning best friend, you are beautiful and the world awaits you."

 

I hope you have a best friend you love.  He or she will always be there for you, no matter what, so treat them right.
